How to Charter Ocean Dragon

The yacht is owned by HMS Drake Central Amenities Fund. She is available to charter by serving, ex-serving armed forces personnel and RNSA members.

The lead charter must fall into the above categories but the remainder of the crew may be non-eligible personnel for example, friends and family. After a recent grounding incident the required qualifications are as follows:

Charters

  • from Falmouth to Salcombe - RYA Day Skipper and Comp Crew

  • from Scilly Isles to Weymouth - RYA Yachtmaster (Coastal) and Comp crew

  • Cross channel - RYA Yachtmaster (Offshore) and Coastal

Charter personnel must hold a minimum of RYA Day Skipper and one other crew member with RYA Competent Crew and be cognisant of the restrictions that each RYA qualification entitles them to sail in.

You will be asked to provide photographic proof of qualifications at time of making the booking request. No proof of sailing qualifications, no charter

A security deposit of £1000 is required to cover the Insurance Excess in case of damage or loss, usually held as a cheque which is destroyed at the end of the charter.
